SCIENCE

7TH GRADE SCIENCE CONTENT

Seventh grade science consists of life science.  This means that we will be studying cells, evolution, genetics, the human body, and family life.  Laboratory experiments, lectures, hands-on activities and projects will be used to explain and reinforce the general concepts and principles of life science.

SUGGESTED MATERIALS

  • 3-ring binder with dividers for each subject         

  • 2 pens (blue or black ink)                 

  • 2 or more pencils with erasers                    

  • a good supply of binder paper  

HOMEWORK

All homework will either be collected or stamped at the beginning of class.  Late homework may be turned in for partial credit depending on the quality of work.

GRADING

All content standard grades will be reported by the strands Cells & Genetics, Evolution, Living Systems, Investigation & Experimentation, and Informational Literacy. “Upgrades” are available on all work graded for academic achievement in content standards. To earn an “upgrade”, students may correct work or retake assessments, depending on the assignment.  Students will be given credit for the higher grade.  “Upgrades” may be completed during our in-class Learning Labs which will be scheduled periodically throughout each trimester.

 

Students will also receive Life Long Learning grades for Completion, Respect and Participation. Homework and practice work will be reflected in the Life Long Learning Completion grade.
